ABOUT US

Our mission is to provide a safe and welcoming environment where all youth can express themselves through singing and performing quality choral literature, while fostering a sense of belonging, acceptance, creativity, and personal growth. 

Our choral groups

Placement is based on musical and vocal readiness, emotional maturity, consistency of focus, attitude and leadership as well as age and vocal quality. No auditions necessary.

Prep Choir

For ages 5 through 7 and prepares young singers for more intensive choral membership.

Trebles

For ages 7 through 12 (unchanged voice) and geared towards first experiences with choral singing.

Youth Chorale

For ages 12 through 17. Previous experience is helpful but not necessary.

Our staff

Lansing Children's Choir's staff is made up of inspired and community-rooted music professionals who are excited to share their knowledge with your child.

Executive Director

Benjamin (Ben) English

Ben has been an active member of the Lansing Theatre community since his first musical at the age of seven.

With a Bachelor's in Family and Community Studies from Michigan State University and an early childhood music teaching certification, Ben wants to share his passion for music with the youth of Lansing. Ben is also the Manager of Community Engagement and Special Projects at the MSU Wharton Center.

Megan Higle

Artistic Director

Megan is an active vocal coach and piano teacher in the Lansing area. She has a Bachelor's in Vocal Performance from Marygrove College and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Oakland University. Megan also serves a a choral and artistic director for multiple church and community choirs in the area. Megan brings positive energy and a love of choral music to all facets of her work.

Chrisann Lowe

Accompanist

Chrisann Lowe is an active member of the Greater Lansing musical community. She has a Master of Arts in piano accompaniment from Easter Michigan University. Chrisann not only managers her own piano studio, but is also a music director at local churches and the staff accompanist for DeWitt public schools.
